Footage screened on India TV on Monday showed what the news channel said was officials from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka negotiating deals with under-cover reporters to affect the outcome of matches.
Pakistan's Nadeem Ghauri and Anees Siddiqui, Nadir Shah of Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka's Gamini Dissanayake, Maurice Winston and Sagara Gallage were all seen agreeing to give favourable decisions in exchange for umpiring contracts and money.
The global governing body said in a statement on Wednesday that investigations would be conducted by the respective boards of each country while the umpires remained barred from officiating in any matches.
"The ICC and its relevant full member boards have agreed not to appoint any of the umpires named in a sting operation recently conducted by India TV to any domestic or international cricket matches pending the outcome of the ongoing investigations into the allegations made," the ICC said.
"The officials named are not contracted by the ICC and those boards who employ and nominate the umpires directly will conduct the investigations as a matter of urgency."
In the sting operation, conducted in July and August, the reporters said they belonged to a sports management company and promised the umpires assignments in different events around the world, largely domestic Twenty20 leagues.
In May, the same television channel's sting operation prompted the Indian cricket board (BCCI) to ban one uncapped cricketer for life and hand out lesser punishments to four others for involvement in corruption in domestic cricket.

Take arshad rauf to the task too...This guy is more scandalous.
@Cricket Lover: Its not about blaming others and acknowledging our own mistakes, its about equal and fair treatment of all, when we do something wrong, it is taken up by the world as if we are the only wrongdoers in the entire world, whereas, when ask for help and support, we are left alone to deal with matters ourselves.
@Fact:
Why are we always compelled to reap, and other culprits are never dealt with the way we are disgraced. What did ICC do regarding Indian cricketers who were caught during IPL?
It's business as usual..........after all that's our way of life.
This proves that Salman Butt, Mohd. Asif and Mohd. Aamir were innocent. The truth shall set you free. The ICC should immediately un-ban them and let them play.
One thing is true though...
The rich and the powerful run the world the way they want. Because this world is full of minions to suck upto them.
While this whole sting operation was actually very poorly conducted, this proves that power corrupts.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The examples of the rotten men handling rotten organizations is our very own BCCI, the IPL and the ICC.
We are basically the worthless filth of this planet.
Guilty or not, what was the motive of this sting operation by excluding their own country's umpires from it. My house is out of order and I am out in my neighbours' homes to solve their issues, come on doesn't even make sense!
@Sir King Kong Bunty:
The bad news in Pakistan Cricket has been since 2006 - Oval Ball Tampering incident. Shoaib Akthar and M. Asif taking banned drugs etc. What has India to do with them ?
@Sara Aslam Basar: WHY??? Is the world jealous of Pakistan???
@Nabeel @Sir King Kong Bunty @Sajid Iqbl @Sara Aslam Basar
Pakistanis love blaming others for their misfortunes and wrongdoings, rather than acknowledging and redressing the mess in their house. The Indian TV channel has also exposed corrupt practices in Indian cricket. Thus, its credibility is quite high, regardless of what you people say in Pakistan. Besides, Pakistani cricket has a long history of scandals -- ranging from match-fixing to dope to illicit money-laundering. Can you blame the world for readily believing the channel which has, in fact, done a good job and got everything on tape as its reporters posed as middlemen offering money to Pakistani and other umpires who were more than willing to "cooperate". The reporters also exposed umpires from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and not just Pakistan. They, incidentally, exonerated one umpire who refused to accept bribes. What does this all say to any person with a little commonsense and healthy brain?
@Sara Aslam Basar
What you sow, so you reap!
When it comes to support Pakistan, everyone backsout; but unfortunately, when it comes to involve Pakistan in scandles, everyone comes running like flies :(
assumed guilty until they can prove themselves to be innocent? that sounds like Indian justice, not actual justice!
Why is the term "bans" used in title while umpires have been suspended only. I hope the editors understand the big difference between these two words.
Another taint on PCB now. Every year starting from 2009 there has only been bad news for Pakistan on cricket front. And mostly there has been Indian hand all along.
So now they use a smear campaign to hide the catastrophic failure of their cricket team - dispiccable!
But we are talking about the ICC, sorry the BCCI... One and the same!
