KARACHI: By blaming the attack on its rally in Khairpur on nationalist forces, the Pakistan Peoples Party is using the deteriorating law and order situation to undermine our campaign against the new local government ordinance, claimed Sindh United Party chief Jalal Mehmood Shah on Tuesday.

The attack on the rally was a result of the differences between two different groups and those who have been nominated in the FIR had differences with the organiser of the rally, but the PPP was using it to gain sympathy, said the nationalist leader during a press conference at Hyder Manzil.

Shah added that “some elements in the government” were trying to push Sindh towards civil war by creating a law and order situation and then blaming Sindhi nationalists for it.

The SUP leader, who is also the convenor of the Sindh Bachayo Committee, (Save Sindh Committee), said that the nationalists would continue their campaign against the Sindh Peoples Local Government Ordinance and would stage a sit-in in front of the Karachi Press Club on Wednesday (today).

“We warn the government to not hinder our peaceful struggle. The PPP-led government would be responsible for any incident that takes place.”

The nationalist leader also criticised PPP leaders who had arranged an event in Hyderabad using state resources and had displayed latest weapons.

“They not only harassed the people who were opposing the new local government system, but also forced their way into the premises of the bar council.”
