If Malala survives, we will target her again: Taliban
A TTP spokesperson told The Express Tribune that this was a warning for all youngsters who were involved in similar activites and added that they will be targeted if they do not stop.
Malala was injured along with two other women when Taliban gunmen opened fire on a bus in Swat.
Yousufzai, who studies at Khushal Public School, was on her way home when the vehicle came under attack on Haji Baba Road. One of the other injured has been identified as Shazia and sources say the third was a teacher.
Taliban spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan said his group was behind the shooting.
"She was pro-West, she was speaking against Taliban and she was calling President Obama her idol," Ehsan said by telephone from an undisclosed location.
"She was young but she was promoting Western culture in Pashtun areas," he said, referring the main ethnic group in northwest Pakistan and southern and eastern Afghanistan.
DPO Swat Rasool Shah said that a search operation has been initiated in the area and a number of suspects have been arrested.
Malala was shifted to Saidu Sharif Medical Complex in Mingora immediately after the incident and later she was moved to Peshawar in an Army helicopter.
Doctors at the Saidu Sharif Medical Complex said that Malala was out of danger after the bullet penetrated her skull but missed her brain.
“A bullet struck her head, but the brain is safe,” said Dr Taj Mohammed.
“She is out of danger,” he added.
Dr Laal Noor, from the same hospital, confirmed that the bullet broke her skull but missed her brain.
“The bullet struck her skull and came out on the other side and hit her shoulder,” he told AFP.
After getting done with Malala's check-up, the doctors said that she might be sent abroad for treatment.
As the news made rounds, hundreds of people flocked outside the hospital, willing to donate blood to Malala.
Two bullets hit Malala -- one in the head and another between the neck and chest.
Malala's friend, Shazia, while narrating the incident to Express News said, "When we were coming back from school, unidenfitied men approached our bus and asked us to identify Malala, when we told him, he opened fire."
The Government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has taken a notice of the incident.
Hailing from Mingora, the 14-year-old Malala struggled for restoring peace in Swat and education for girls in the region for which she was awarded the National Peace Award by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
When the Taliban had banned education for females in the district, she kept a diary for the British Broadcasting Corporation and wrote about the misdeeds of militants.
Yousufzai also remained a speaker for the Child Assembly in Swat, which works for child rights in the district. Later on, she was awarded the first National Peace Award by the government of Pakistan on December 19, 2011 for rendering courageous services to promote peace during the mayhem.

The taliban are men that are ignorant, stupid men, that are afraid that women might learn to read the holy koran and find out that the koran does not say women have to stay uneducated and ignorant like the men would like them to be so they can treat women as slaves. Yes the taliban should be afraid of women being educated. They will kick the mens butts and they will feel what women are feeling today. The brutal murders and violence by the Taliban show no signs of abating. Suddenly, they throw a bomb here or a grenade there in crowded places, killing and maiming people, or they resort to firearms to shoot as they like. But what is not disclosed to our Pakistani people is that these Taliban have not appeared suddenly from some unknown source; in fact they have been in the making for decades in the political anarchy that has prevailed in Pakistan. The major players in this game have been Pakistani politicians and religious leaders (or ringleaders ) of religious parties like the Jamaat-e-Islami, for instance, who have misused the name of Islam for their political ends and have misled the vast majority of Pakistani people that a pure Islam was being re-introduced.
Thus the field was open for such ‘mujahiddin of Islam’ and the custodians of mosques to brainwash common people into believing that the dawn of Islamic rejuvenation was just around the corner. The Islamisation programme by the sadistic dictator General Zia-ul-Haq was a natural growth of that process that had started long ago. That process had matured and has been showing its results in the shape of sectarian versions of Islam, violence against religious minorities (Ahmadis, Christians, Shias, Hindus, etc.), where the ‘pure’ Muslims, the mujahiddin and the Taliban, are doing Allah’s work and fiery clerics spouting their venom against fellow human beings.
Can these forces be stopped by an official decree or praying for peace? The answer is No. Much has gone wrong in Pakistan in the name of Islam. It will take much more than pious wishes and prayers to remove the evil forces that are terrorising the people of Pakistan.

This is so sad. A 14 year old girl trying to make her country a better place is gunned down. Where is the respect for human life? There is apparently none, anybody that disagrees with them must be killed. It's very telling that they are so threatened by a 14 yr old that they will not engage in dialogue with her, they just shoot. I hope she recovers fully and lives a long and healthy life despite this and is able to keep working to improve conditions in Pakistan for all people. Maybe one day in the future this type of thing will be relegated to the history books.
If TTP will not give a call to kill all these jallaad then it will be sure TTP is just an umbrella organizstion for these terrorists and deserve to be treated alike .

Malala who is a minor girl is braver than many Pakistanis who took on these barbarians by their horns. I am sure Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif, PPP and religious party leaders will not lead the protests fearing their lives but common people should hold rallies in their own areas and give a strong message to TTP that enough is enough and any more killings and cowardly attacks will not be tolerated. This is really sad news, I hope and pray all the girls are safe and recover quickly. I can remember watching a documentary about Malala Yousufzai when the Taliban took over SWAT, I was so proud of her and she was such a brave girl. I really don't understand what's going on in Pakistan, it's becoming one of most dangerous places in the world. Pakistan has so much to offer to the rest of the world, please Pakistan wake up before it's too late, ending up like Libyia or Syria. I wish I could sponsor this young girl to come live with me or some other Pakistani's in Australia where she would live safe and in peace.

Then why is your government dragging its feet when there is talk of fencing that border and sending back the refugees. Is it not a fact that many northern areas in your country are one of the peaceful areas in the region from decades but yet their people are living here (e.g Tajiks & Hazara).. Take back your refugees, no where else would they find shelter for free and enjoy free healthcare, free education and tax free businesses. Most of this anarchy is due to the fact that millions of people are coming back & forth illegally to this country. You cannot hope to have peace in this region unless this border gets sealed as all the criminals can prop up and then hide on either side of uncontrolled parts.

I have been a very strong supporter of Imran Khan but strongly disagree with the approach he has towards the scum of Taliban and other militants. I wish he protested against these killers before he did against drones. Drones have killed many high profile killers like baitulah mehsood. I hope the CIA does more drone strikes and takes out the people who are out to take over our beloved country.

Need to eliminate Taliban's approach
By firing on an unarmed minor but brave girl from Pakistan who only wanted to continue her education, the Taleban have proved to the whole world that they are the biggest lunatics ever born and a living curse on this earth. This cowardly act of shooting a hapless girl will not help their agenda of enforcing sharia by force since people of Pakistan will now hate them more than ever. I sincerely hope that some international agency adopts this brave girl from Pakistan and gives her education in a foreign country.
