“We want you to know that after this peaceful demonstration today, we will go back to the United States and continue to educate the American people, protest and force our government to stop the drone strikes,” Code Pink activists said after the rally was halted in Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
While they spoke mostly in English, which was promptly translated into Urdu by a volunteer, they then chanted in Urdu:
"Band karo, band karo, drone hamle band karo"
(stop, stop, drone attacks)
This resonated with the gathered crowd who subsequently joined them in the chants.
As many as 32 American members of Code Pink have traveled from the United States to take part in the rally, demanding “justice and human rights for everyone in the world.”
When they arrived in Islamabad earlier in the week, they, along with other peace activists from America brought with them a letter signed by over 3,000 people, urging the US government to end their drone campaign.
The letter was handed over to US authorities at the embassy in Islamabad.
Code Pink is an anti-war group composed mainly of women, which aims to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

@ManishJ: Pink is "gulabi" A coincidence or intentionally named afterCodePink?
@Muhammad: 100% True.
@CallinArmy-Khi: Excellent!
I love MQM/PPP/PMLN trolls commenting here; sitting back in office and criticizing it. Lol What have your party done lately? except for giving foolish statements on media. :P
What i am going to write now has nothing to do with the Protest that IK and his party are busy with, however i believe that the Drone attacks should be stopped immidiately if they are really killing civilians. but if they are eleminating the Terroists the operation should continue, In that case it is infact helping Pakistan to get rid of the bad elements who are otherwise beyond the control of Pak army.
There is a group of Village women in Uttar Pradesh( India) which is called GULABI GANG. These women wear GULABI Sarees and are trained in self defence. This group is formed to protect women folks from the attrocities by the powerful men of the viallges. They help the women in need by standing by them to provide security and emotional support.
There ways may be sometimes seen beyond the perview of law but its effective and helping poor women who are tormented by their own husbands and sons and other storng men.
@Lali: Ameen!
@Muhammad Yaqub: I 100% agree with you.
@Saad Saeed: Go look at news sites for countries that aren't in Pakistan's general area. Nothing has remotely changed at all. Most took little interest and the ones that did mentioned it in the form of a footnote equivalent. The comments on those speak of his march proving how bad the areas are and actually caused a rise in drone support because he couldn't even make it to South Waziristan and North Waziristan is supposed to be even worse. It proved that not even the common Pakistani can set foot there which completely obliterated the claims of Pakistan having any sovereignty in those areas to actually be violated as well. If ever there was a doubt about drones being used in those areas, Imran Khan's march completely got rid of it for many people. You also seem to be mistaking the value of groups like Code Pink and the influence they possess. I didn't even know they existed until this and I'm not alone.
@Ejaz: So you think drones will also solve that issue? How has that worked so far in stopping violence?
@Deepwater: You are may be correct. The American Embassy staff probably invited the Taliban over, and they all had a good laugh. After all, the last thing the Americans want is peace.
I wish Imran has tried to negotiate with TTP and Lashker e Jhangvi to stop killing muslim brother and sisters in Gilgit and Quetta, Balochistan. I wish he had tried to save shia muslims from fundamental sunni group LLJ first than unitedly they could fight for all muslims against drones etc.
Waste of time and Imran knows. The USA does not use drones unless the highest authority in the country (Army & President) has given a go-ahead. Without this permission they risk the shooting down of the drones !
This is how a leader should be brave highlights the Problems to the international community to get them on pakistan side and also supports his own people who have suffered a lot and still are god bless you I K KHAN long live Pakistan and long live IK.
Thanks to Imran and his brave party that this issue has been highlighted in the international media
Imran Khan and a couple dozen "Code Pink" women. The Taliban must be having a good laugh.
A moment of shame for all those locals who oppose peace and efforts for peace.
