In his book "Pakistan: Before and After Osama", Gul stated “the city that would most suit him and provide him with the peace he needs to strategise his takeover is Islamabad.”
“…it will be no surprise if American or Pakistani intelligence were to scoop him up from Rawalpindi or Islamabad one day – the way they netted Khalid Sheikh Mohammed from Rawalpindi near the armed forces’ General Headquarters. The 9/11 mastermind was finally indicted in early April 2012 along with four others, with prosecution demanding death penalty for him,” he said in his book.
Zawahiri is an Egyptian cleric who became the new al Qaeda chief after Osama bin Laden was killed by US forces in Abbottabad on May 2, 2011.

Her comes repetetion of OBL story.
Who belives Imtiaz Gul anyway ...
Not surprising!
I think somebody from the US embassy visited Imtiaz Gul and delivered him a "with us or against us" message.
Al Qaeda chief hiding in Pakistan or given shelter like OBL is not really a surprising news. The chief would not be living in a mansion to get spotted by a satallite or suspicious neighbors but may be sheltered in air-conditioned underground bunkers along with his wife or wives(he has four) and children.
@A Peshawary: It could also be that Pakistan is finally fed up with protecting Al Zawahiri and is ready to hand him over to USA or most likely eliminate him in a staged encounter.

"Yet the time of revealing the fact is important. It might be having some relevance to both the American and Pakistani election which are round the corner."
If you remember, even Abbottabad operations was done at a very critical time. At that time Obama's legitimacy as President was questioned because of doubts about his birth place. And honestly, the instant I heard the news about OBL killing, I thought, oh, Pakistan came to his rescue. And who knows what's next.
Does any one have any doubt about that ?
That's what is known as an "open secret"
Pure speculation, why is this even news worthy?
It may or may not be correct the fact must be in knowledge of concerned authorities. Yet the time of revealing the fact is important. It might be having some relevance to both the American and Pakistani election which are round the corner.
