LAHORE: Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) President Talal Bugti met Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Monday, where both the party chiefs discussed the current law and order situation in Balochistan.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Bugti stated that Balochistan is in a state of war and Frontier Corps is responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation.

“Four gas fields were discovered in Marri Agency, which has been declared a no-go area. Sardar Bugti had given permission that gas be extracted from the fields to improve the situation in Balochistan as well as all of Pakistan. But the FC and other security agencies came and took over the area. In the name of security, they are looting billions of rupees.”

Bugti added that each time the Supreme Court points towards the FC in the law and order case, the FC starts attacking areas. “We have eyewitnesses of those attacks,” he stated.

He also thanked the Supreme Court for its efforts in stabilising the province and for hearing cases against the FC.

Sharif, who also spoke to the media, said that if the situation in Balochistan is to be improved then the process should begin right away. “Upcoming elections in the province are a ray of hope. They should be fair and transparent.”

He mentioned the All Parties Conference which was summoned at the Prime Minister House to discuss the Balochistan situation, “but no true Baloch leadership was present in the meeting”.

Commenting on how Talal Bugti was not allowed to hold funeral prayers for his father, Sharif said that these situations lead a person into becoming a traitor. “But it is not the fault of the traitors, it is the fault of those who turn the patriots into traitors.”
