Police targeted: Militants open fire on police, ASI killed

The police registered an FIR against the unidentified militants and initiated an investigation.

UPPER DIR: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was gunned down by unidentified militants in the jurisdiction of Warhi police station late night on Saturday. Talking to journalists, Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) circle, Fazal Rabi Khan, said that a police van was on a routine patrol around midnight when unidentified militants opened fire on the van from nearby fields. He further said that ASI Ameenur Rehman was killed on the spot while his colleague, constable Ziauddin, was critically injured. He was shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar. The police registered an FIR against the unidentified militants and initiated an investigation. The deceased was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard with honour.
