Thousands rally in Karachi over blasphemous film, cartoons
Police beefed up security for the rally while paramilitary forces also deployed.
"Beheading is the only one punishment for blasphemy," read one banner. "We demand all French and US diplomatic missions shut in Pakistan," said another, as protesters shouted: "We are ready to sacrifice our lives for the honour of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)!"
Senior police official Amir Lodhi said that "about 5,000 people were in the rally", adding that organisers made assurances they would not march towards the US consulate.
The rally dispersed peacefully, an AFP reporter said.
The crudely made "Innocence of Muslims" movie has sparked angry and at times violent demonstrations across the globe.

cautious: who cares abt your wonder. you always seems to be against everything the muslims do. ask privately the muslims in other countries what to and how to punish the blasphemer and beheading will be the answer. muslims in other countries has no problem with muslims of pakistan but they feel thats its ok only exept you and your minded few people. now you get more angry or whatever you get but thats the reality.
These protests were minor. Lets see the prktest called tomorrow by ji across kp. I can't wait to see the impact regarding rly on US interests.
I wonder whether Pakistani's ever ask themselves why the rest of the Muslim World doesn't behave like you? I have no doubt that most Muslim countries view Pakistan as a public relations disaster for your religion.
Wonder what they would do if they see the new Bollywood movie "Oh My God". I watched it yesterday and liked it very much.
