Pakistan’s Asjad Iqbal is gearing up to unleash his improved game at the Lagnese 4th Ranking Snooker Championship that commences today as he follows his dream of playing in the world championship.
The top two Pakistan players will represent the country in the 4th IBSF World Snooker Championship in November-December. A part from Iqbal, Pakistan number one Mohammad Asif and third-ranked Sultan Mohammad are also in contention.
According to the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA), Asif has a good chance of making the cut but needs to make it to the quarters atleast.
“I’m taking part in this event to lift the trophy because I want to ensure I earn a world championship place,” Iqbal told The Express Tribune. The Pakistan number two recently attended a month-long coaching clinic in Bangkok. “I’m a more dangerous player now because there were faults which the coaches in Bangkok helped rectify.”
Meanwhile, Sultan has not even been practising properly for the event.
“Honestly speaking, I haven’t practised because there are a lot of things happening away from snooker,” said Sultan. “I am just hoping against the hope for a good result.”
