Maternal, child health: 57,000 people to benefit in Charsadda, Mandi Bahauddin

Purpose of the projects is to address lack of adequate and affordable reproductive health facilities in rural areas.

The maternal and child health needs of around 57,000 people will be met in a year by the establishment of two health care centres in Charsadda and Mandi Bahauddin, said a press release issued by the Japanese embassy.

The assistance, totally $228,227 (approximately Rs20.72 million), will be given by the government of Japan to two Pakistani non-governmental organisations.

The agreements for both the projects were signed at the Japanese ambassador’s residence between Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Japan, Akira Kono, and the presidents of the organisations on Thursday. The purpose of the projects is to address the lack of adequate and affordable reproductive health facilities in rural areas. “Improving health services, especially for women and children, is one of the priorities in Japan’s assistance policy towards Pakistan,” said Kono.
