Washrooms at Children Hospital, in the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), are being renovated for the first time in over two decades. Due to their deplorable condition, they had become a hot spot for the spread of diseases.
There are cracks in the floors, sanitaryware and even in the walls, while taps malfunction. In the first phase, two communal washrooms with six cubicles each, separated by aluminium partitions and separate areas for showering and wuzu were remodelled for Rs2.6 million. Two more are under construction.
Dr Tabish Hazir, professor of Paediatrics at Children Hospital, said, Friends of Children Hospital a non-governmental organisation which has been regularly providing supplies, had the washrooms remodelled.
