ENGLAND:
England striker Wayne Rooney, who has not played for a month after receiving a severe gash on his thigh against Fulham, is likely to return for Manchester United this week. “He is not far away,” manager Sir Alex Ferguson told reporters. “He’s doing a lot of great training and has been working hard.” Meanwhile, United have issued a statement regarding the future absence of team captain Nemanja Vidic, according to manutd.com. “Nemanja Vidic has had a meniscus operation on his right knee and will be out for around eight weeks,” read the statement.
