The shooting for two films is complete and they are scheduled for release before Christmas, with a third awaiting the go-ahead. All are under scrutiny after protests across the Islamic world and the killing of the US ambassador in the Libyan city of Benghazi over the anti-Islam US film on Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), according to the Daily Express.
At least one fearful studio has asked an Islamic cleric to vet its script. Senior executives at another studio have entered into intense briefing sessions with US State Department officials to minimise or expunge any content which otherwise might be viewed as offensive.
Filmmakers are worried that fundamentalists could target cinemas where the films are playing, with one admitting: “We are even asking if we dare release anything on this subject.”

So we are to trust this 'news' which provides no details, no sources, and no references to the alleged producers or clerics involved with vetting scripts? This 'author' is an anonymous writer who doesn't even have a profile on this website. This is a journalistic as the water cooler rumor mill (the only difference being that water cooler gossip can at least be verified and traced to an accountable source).
If you are willing to believe IANS 'reporting', than I've got a bridge to sell you...
This article is ridiculous. Who are the fearful studios, executives, filmmakers, State Department officials, and Muslim cleric? Not a single name is mentioned, not even the titles of the films. There isn't a single detail noted.
This is a victory for the Ummah !!
You are hopelessly wrong. My apologies, but indeed, you are hopelessly wrong.
The OBL saga is over but remember the succession ladder is alive and the mantle will pass on to someone else. However, any reference to religious personalities revered by Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and other beliefs MUST be desisted / refrained from. Frankly, I would not like to see any of your religious persons being shown in a film for public viewing. They are reverential persons and must remain so.
OBL was a freedom fighter and the entire movement is rigmarole of American, Saudi, Pakistani, and European spaghetti and pies. It is a sordid episode replete with backstabbing and deceit. Read about the Saddam Hussain affair.
'Freedom of expression' carries a lot of weight and responsibilities. Hollywood will be wise not to make a film of ANY religion for that matter. They can make any film showing their soldiers hammering away at the enemy with extrapolation, which is a variable and can be extended to any length based on assumptions.
Frankly, I will refrain on seeing a film made on Gautama Buddha. Ben Stiller made a trilogy with Robert De Niro, and Dustin Hoffman on "Meet the Parents, "Meet the Fockers," and "Little Fockers." The last two chapters are not in my library. They have been removed from the premises of my home. They contain reference to a Prophet and God considered by me as derisive and profane. See it if you please and tell me if I am wrong.
Have a nice day with lots of fresh air and sunshine.
@Rao Amjad Ali: Don't drink the Kool-Aid!
Are these films going to show how Bin Laden came into being? Asking too much i guess...lol
Ignorance of the Americans never ceases to amaze and amuse!
@Rao Amjad Ali:
I am guessing that you forgot about the few protests and vigils which were held in his 'honor'.
Nonsense. Film studios in America wont hesitate to show ALL arabs as terrorists (which they are not btw). They have been doing that from even before.
Everyone and Charlie's aunt knows that Bin Laden was the blue eyed boy of the US after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan so how can the Muslim world get angry about a movie about him. Also what kind of a backlash did we witness in the Muslim world after he was taken out by the Navy Seals?
@1984: Because, Bin Laden was a super mullah and has lot of followers across the world..
