BADIN:

The police arrested a journalist, Sanwan Khaskheli, after he was involved in an argument near Badin Press Club on Wednesday.

According to the FIR, Khaskheli, an honourary member of the press club, had a fight with Asghar Ansari, the cousin of renowned Sindhi poet and society member, Dr Akhash Ansari. The press club members and several political and nationalist party workers tried to defuse the situation, but Khaskheli was arrested and sent to the district jail.

Sources told The Sindh Express that Khaskheli had allegedly taken over a controversial piece of government land, which was the main reason of enmity between the two.

Though the land is occupied by several influential people, the area where the Union Council office is located has been the cause of rift between the people in the area.

Hundreds of citizens held a protest against Khaskheli’s arrest and demanded that the authorities release him and withdraw the false case against him immediately. “Ansari wanted to occupy the land of the community hall and we’ll continue our struggle until Khaskheli is released,” the press club’s president, Allah Rakhio Naeem.
