LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Monday directed the registrar’s office to fix all petitions, filed against the chief executive officer of a visa consultancy, before one judge.

Several petitions against Asim Malik, Future Concerns’ CEO, are pending before the high court. He is accused of visa fraud.

Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi issued the order after he was told by a law officer that Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan of the high court had barred the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from issuing a report about the consultancy firm. Hearing this, Justice Naqvi issued the order, saying that it was being done in public interest and for the benefit of those affected by the fraud.

Earlier, Malik was produced before the court. At the last hearing, the court had issued a contempt notice against him.

The judge had also been angry at the FIA for not putting Malik’s name on the Exit Control List. Agency officials appeared in court on Monday and told the judge that they had initiated the process of Malik’s name being put on the ECL.
