Speaking to a media gathering, Mirza Masroor Ahmad said that the Muslims across the world should “peacefully unite in their opposition to the film” which has stirred up “great resentment and anger among Muslims worldwide.”
Ahmad also called for limiting free speech so that the religious sentiments of people are protected.
The statement quoted the Ahmaddiya leader as saying:
It is their inability to defeat Islam that is causing them to resort to such vile acts which they try to justify on the basis of freedom of speech or expression. Let it not be that in the name of freedom of speech the peace of the entire is destroyed.
He condemned the violent response witnessed in a number of countries by Muslims and the killings of innocent people including ambassadors and diplomats.
He said, “Damaging property or burning buildings was completely wrong and benefited no party.”
Correction: An earlier version of this article had construed that the Ahmadi community head meant “non-Muslims” when he said “their” during his address. The error is regretted.

This is the world need right now united Muslims May God enable all the muslims to get united. Great speach, Love for all hatred for none
@mqalander:Thank you for you comment. Its not about you being disagree to the statement of Mirza Masroor Sb, its about the fact that every sensible person is saying that but not practically following the true teachings of Islam, by practicing it. The point is if the world of Muslims practice the wrong meaning of Jihad infront of the western world, how could western world can respect our religion. The true message of Islam is Love for everyone, and proving its teachings with rational and not aggression and thats what Mirza Masroor sb is doing in the world by his speaches and writing its letter to American, Israil and Iran's president and even the pope of Christians. Mirza Masroor sb is afraid of the fact that the world is leading towards 3RD World War, if such actions and reactions will continue. Hope you search more on this from Ahmadiya point of view. Thanks
Now who is starting the baseless hate speech. I smell something burning around.
@Pengr: for relevance can you give some refrences please so we are all enlightened of this hypocrisy.
Height of hypocrisy. Is it not true that their own books contain more or less the same stuff the movie shows?
A brave step by The Express Tribune to run the most wisest statement on the issue which not only expresses the deepest sense of hurt, torment and anguish of every Muslim but also advises the roadmap to get the message across in the most effective manner. I wish the world also listen to the complete sermon of the Worldwide Head of Ahmadiyya Jama'at on this most distressing issue (link:http://www.alislam.org/friday-sermon/2012-09-21.html) and pay heed to it.
great......
Hats off to ET for publishing the true message of Islam from the great leader the Champion of Peace
Thank you ETribune for posting this and also for correcting the error - fully appreciated & bold step taken to post Ahmadiyya leader's statement.
It is very much needed, regardless of any sect that people belong to, to put aside their differences and come together for peace. There should also be tolerance for others' opinions. One person making a stupid movie does not justify that Muslims give so much attention to a nobody and cause so much harm, giving more reason for people to speak against Islam. Protests should be peaceful or have peaceful dialogue - they will make a difference. Just think of this: If someone is angry and shouts at you and destroys your property, do you want to listen to him or would you listen to someone who speaks in a calm manner and gets the message across.
What ever has been said by supreme head of Ahamdiyya Community in fact is the real guideline if one has to achieve the peace in the world. Anti Islamic elements are there to instigate innocent Muslim on various sensitive issues. However then comes the role of leaders to guide the followers for logical, sensible and rational reaction. Since Ahamdiyya Community has one leader to whom all the followers obey as such a collective peaceful behaviour stems out from the community. While the phenomenon of film is still on the Slaman Rushdi in an interview with French paper has again instigated the sentiments of Muslims that to him there is some thing wrong "At the heart of Islam" and to support his view point he has taken the examples of illogical and violent behaviour of Muslims on various occasions. While the fact is that nothing is wrong at the heart of Islam rather it is the violent and Un-Islamic behaviour due to wrong interpretation of Islam by fanatics religious clerics which is bringing bad name to this beautiful religion.
Indeed Mirza Sahib is a great spiritual leader
Bravo ET...!!! U make us all Pakistani's PROUD today by being a BRAVE Pakistani News publisher...Keep it up...!!!
To all those who say this is a "common sense" or a "same old" message.... I simply ask....
Who has had the guts to say it out LOUD that --the Muslims anger is Justified completely due to their deep love for Master Prophet Muhammad(p.b.u.h)... --BUT their VOILENT actions are completely against Islam and should be CONDENMED...!! --Also he has specifically talked about MUSLIM UNITY to tackle such acts... and not just that.. --He has also said at the same time that the Freedom of Speech, a Man-made, Law should NOT be used to destroy the Peace of the World....(i.e the negatives of such a law should be revamped/omitted)...
Such wise words are rare to be found in the WHOLE WORLD today.... let alone the Muslim World....!!!
Peace...!
Very true and yes, the so called free speech should not mean a license to insult anyone's religion. Muslims don't even insult religious figures who were never prophets and teaches live and respect for every other religion. Therefore its rightly said by the leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community that there should be logical restrains to free speech. Secondly whosoever does these stunts, does it intentioanlly and knowing that Muslims do not do such acts neither would reciprocate in a similar fashion. This gives them a vacant playing field to manipulate the so called freedom of speech by trying to derogate Islam. There should definitely be logic and sensibility attached to media publications which now needs to be regulated to some extent
Which of the other leaders said this?? @mqalander:
That is a perfect message, from a perfect leader. Muslims only need this type of leadership.
In my humble opinion, we need to appreciate the fact that the human society can not operate smoothly unless care is taken to respect the sentiments and emotions of fellow-humans. To be irreverent and callous merely to exercise one's freedom of expression, amounts to being arrogant and chauvinistic. So, essentially it's a question of exercising simple decency. On the other hand, in responding to indecency too, humans need to realize that paying back in the same coin is not always prudent. Basic human decency must be upheld at all times and at all levels.
@common sense: Dear Common Sense Ur Right ... Its a common logic which 6 grader can understand but unfortunately so called pillar of Islam in Pakistan called "Mullah" cannot understand this simple logic and destroying not only our country name, above that destroying meaning of our religion Islam all over the world. Thanks God we have a sensible leader who guide us according to real Islamic teaching.
Asalamoalikum
I am a Proud American Ahmadi Muslim and I value free speech, being an Ahmadi with family from Pakistan who would value free speech, freedom of expression and religion more than me. However just like you can't yell "fire" in a movie theater in the same respect you can make videos that will hurt people physically or emotionally.
This is just making political hay while the sun shines. It should not be taken seriously
Very well said by the King of Peace. I hope other muslim leaderds come up with something like this as well. Kudos to Express Tribune for publishing such statement with Picture of Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih. May Allah give you opportunity to do correct reporting in future as well.
What a leap of confidence from ET!
ok. take care.
He looks and talks like a good Muslim !
@omaidus: I agree, especially when it is coming from a NON muslim.
I am glad that non-muslims like Ahmedias are also coming out in support of Muslims in this matter.
Best news ever shared by ET
whatever he said is a common sense, not words of wisdom. even my 6th grade brother have same views. People calling it wisdom are actually insulting their own intelligence, maybe some are over-appreciating their community leader.
@waqar ahmed: It is always a better choice not to be blinded by hate and prejudice. See what is being said not who is saying it. I think ET has done a brilliant job by placing it in
These things can only happen in Pakistan. Sad...
Shame on you...............Shame Shame......express tribune shame on you. was this new wroth mentioning in you paper even.... and you placed it on front. Shame Shame
is this statement considered unconstitutional where this leader is presuming to be muslim and as such defender of one.
Naveed, you call violent protest is part of Islamic teaching and you guys are walking on the foor prints of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)? Do really thing killing your own country men, burning your government properties and private properties is part of Islamic teaching. Ahmadies all our the world protest in more strong way by writing to authorities which can put more impact on them, rather giving them chance to do more to enjoy when you guys become violent and so out of control that you have no idea you are doing distraction in your own home, killing your own people, uneducated, unethical, violent, distructive, emotional people. Watch all these clips from Pakistan and see is this is out of love to Holy Prophet or something else you will get the answer, use your own mind don't look with jahil mulla's eyes. For everything you google to get the answer, then why don't search for the second advantage of Mesiah.
As a Muslim it is part of our religion to believe all the prophet so you can call your self Muslim, when western media show Jesus (PBUH) as gay in movie and adds, make different movie on him and other prophet, why being Muslims you protest against that movie or add, at that time you laugh with your friends look they are make fun of Jesus, your deeni ghairat should react to that ad and movie as well, because Blasphamy word is not just made for Muslim, it give protection of every religion founder.
et thumbs up,
Very bold step from the newspapers
Thank you ET. Talking about freedom of speech, and some people eluding to the Jama'at Ahmadiyya's progress based on such freedoms, Jama'at has progressed as a grand design, and promise, from Allah and no one can stop that. Secondly freedom of speech should have certain boundaries - Allah's Prophets, and other holy figures (irrespective of their faiths) should be above such reproach and ridicule. To our countrymen, the conspiracy is only to portray and malign the pure and pristine name, and teachings, of Islam as an intolerant, militant and violent religion - hence an event is instigated - always in a so called western or free society, and it triggers a plethora of violence in muslim states, hence giving the western media to portray that and reflect it on Islam as its teaching. I don't know how destroying our own assets and killing our own people is Islamic? I hope our intelligentsia, and people who have access to media, can convey this message across the masses as it appears to be beyond the mullah.
@mqalander:
Special thing is that only few muslim leader said this
@ omaidus, Who will decide about the contents and put limitations? Would Ahmedis accept the limitations put by other Muslim sects? @ Sh. M. Ahmed, Jews and multi-nationals you have mentioned have earned their rights with peacefull means. How many Jews and Bankers have killed each other to get their rights? Our problem is Terrorism and Emotions instead of Logic.
@Ch. Allah Daad: You are a bigot; shame on you. Freedom of thought is different than freedom to inflict pain. A person has the right to express their opinion, but do not have the right to inflict pain on others. This requires some thought; something you appear to lack.
Reading all the comments above, dear friends many other leaders too have given such statements and far before this man, you could have also posted the same comments of such as ' excellent and sensible' kind.
I read 'Mirza Masroor said that the Muslims across the world should ', he should be ashmed for lying. Muslims are protesting around the world not Qadiani and he only consider Qadiani as Muslim, so whats he talking about?
@Ch. Allah Daad: Sir you try and talk about Hitler in a positive sense in these western countries and then you'll know what their idea of free speech is. You try talking about the atrocities of banking systems, corporate machines and weapon proliferation and then you'll know how hypocritical they are in there notion of free speech. Basically the notions of 'Political Correctness' and 'Freedom of Speech' are inherently contradictory, yet both remain prevalent in Western legal systems...the question is why? Well, to manipulate the freedom they so ostentatiously claim to have given to speech and expression.
I think he should have used the word "responsible" instead of "limiting" the free speech. It is the same free speech that allowed him and his Jamat to flourish in west by denouncing the understanding of the concept of Jesus as west knows it in their theology and presenting a totally different view of him and his coming back in the form of Ghulam Ahmed. If there would be no or limited free speech, I wonder if the Christians in the west would have allowed him to preach his version of Jesus history and connecting it to Ghulam Ahmed. Just a thought and no I am not being ignorant.
@MA, and what is ignorant about it? I did not disagree with him, I just said it a common sense thing and it does not make it special if Mirza Sahib said it.
Ahmedis are not considered muslims by non ahmedi muslims. So i dont know why he is do concerned.
Great message from great leader. MashaAllah.
Very positive and accurate response Thanks for sharing.
Our Ahmadiyya community condemned about the satanic film, we also request American government to block facebook and doogle websites
An excellent teaching in the time of such chaos May Allah grant the world wisdom to follow it Tribune truly deserves appreciation for publishing the article
Its kind of funny to hear true reflection of "Muslim" sentiments from someone whom muslims don't take as "Muslim" ...:) ....(i hope this comment will get through moderation)
A very wise message from a nice person. Muslims needs to get united regardless of sect to get a law passed to limit the freedom of speech.
This is a true leader and This is a responsible message to all.
Kudos to ET for publishing this news!! For some time, I was doubtful if I was viewing the correct web page.
@mqalander: We are what our leaders are. But if you would have noticed, even though a lot of people talked similar ideas in their drawing rooms, no Muslim leader ever dared to speak out against the violent reactions as well as against freedom of speech right on the face of the western world (which actually would require a lot of courage).
I second him! He has made a sensible statement. Outrage of Muslims is completely justified but damaging public property and killing ambassadors benefited no party but as a matter of fact rendered great harm to the cause of Muslims.
All sensible Muslims would express their anger in a peaceful manner except Looters and opportunists who take advantage of the situation. Mirza Masroor is not saying any thing special.
The current time demands an International Law to define the freedom of speech, and I think it cannot happen without unity of all the Muslims sects and states.. We really need to pray to God to help us because we are very in reality very week to do so.
@Ch. Allah Daad there is a difference between free speech and hate speech, abusing others leaders aimlessly hurting their feelings has nothing to do with free speech, another statement you made that we were saved by west and they gave us new life is also a false. Ahmadiyya have never abused the respected leaders of other communities, we have never abused the right of free speech and have presented our case with arguments and evidence. Limiting free speech and restricting it is a different phenomenon.
It seems that Pakistan still has some sane people who could see the disastrous consequences for this senseless carnage. These people in other countries bate us and we fall for it and goes on killing and destroying property and in the process destroying the country.
ET, please make correction.

A great statement from great leader and salute the courage of tribune
What our leader saying is common sense but those who don't follow the true & peaceful teachings of Holy Prophet Hadhrat Muhammad SAW can't even fathom it.
May the Muslim world pay heed to the message.
Title is misleading if read in isolation. Also is the quote complete? Seems to be missing a word.
Excellent message. If only the Muslim world took heed.
A bold news piece by Express Tribune. Thank you.
Maybe change the title from
"Anti-Islam film: Head of Ahmadi community says anger of Muslims ‘fully justified"
to
"Anti-Islam film: Head of Ahmadi community says anger of Muslims ‘fully justified, by violent reaction must be condemned"
Otherwise without reading the article the title conveys a wrong meaning.
Kudos to tribune for covering the subject. Lets give peace a chance.
Salute to the leader of peace and love and tribune for their courage!
Yes it is a good message and of very common sense. But whats the big deal if this guy has said it, all rational people are saying the exactly same thing since the protests.
Absolutely and sensible statement . I hope that other leaders shall come up with such statements
It is not justified, because their anger is paradoxically giving this film more importance than is due.
There is no 2nd option for Muslims but to unite under the true sense of Islam. Until to keep the differences apart, you'll keep causing an immense demage to no one but to yourslef. They who made the film would be so proud that they caused you to damage your own countries, burn your own assests, ruin your own properties and kill your own people without them even putting a step on your land.... How shameful for Muslim world..
No doubt the advice from this leader is much appreciable.
This is a statement from such religious personality whose followers completely follow his advice. I wish other Ulemas have same command on their followers. and when such religious personalities ask their followers to refrain from taking part in any violence then their followers pay heed to their words. Unfortunately our society is disintegrating day by day and we cannot even find peace on those days which are being commemorated on the name of most peaceful person i.e. Hazrat Muhammad (saw)
Beautiful wisdom from a righteous leader who practices what he preaches. The Muslim world would benefit immensely by setting aside sectarian differences and heeding his call for unity in peace.
Still they will live in fear
Islam is a religion of peace as the meaning of the word 'Islam" suggest'. Displaying anything contrary to this meaning and teaching is to defame Islamic teachings. The Muslims especially should refrain from this type of nefarious behavior that defeats the noble cause of Islam. Islam's pure and bright perception should be established at all cost and never allowed to be tarnished.
Janaab Mirza Ahmad has spoken like a true leader. Its a pity that no so called leader came forward and said such a logical message.
The heading is a bit misleading to say the least Anyone with an ounce of sense would agree. The looting and violence was absolutely despicable
To protest against a despicable film is fully justified, but to burn properties, looting, and killing of people is not. according to news reports 16 people have died in Pakistan, millions of dollars in damage and shut-down of businesses, who is the real winner or loser. Let us vent our anger and displeasure peacefully.
