Brothel raid: Court rejects bail plea for five women

PESHAWAR: A Peshawar court rejected the bail plea of five women, Rabia, Sumaira, Khan Sultana, Rubi and Neelam, who were allegedly arrested from a brothel during a police raid in Hayatabad. According to an FIR registered at the Hayatabad police station on September 6, the police received complaints from people that unusual activity was taking place in a house in Phase 4. SHO Bashirdad Khan and his team carried out the raid. The additional district and sessions judge, Asad Hameed Bangash, rejected the bail request. Rabia, one of the accused, had earlier filed an application alleging that a brothel was being run by Aslam and his wife Shabana. Rabia also accused the couple of forcing her to commit illicit behavior, which is why she approached the court, she said. The Peshawar High Court, on Rabia’s application, directed the Paharhi Pura police to raid the alleged brothel being run by the couple, who were later arrested. Aslam’s daughter, an MBA student, denied the charges. She said that Rabia worked in their house and escaped after stealing precious items. Later, the PHC accepted the couple’s bail request.
