Constable arrested in Gujranwala

One of the witnesses to the lynching of two brothers in Sialkot – police constable Rizwan – has been arrested from Gujranwala. Meanwhile, deputy prosecutor general Rana Bakhtiar said all the accused arrested will be presented in court on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, Judicial Commission chairman Kazim Malik said the inquiry report regarding the incident will be presented in the Supreme Court on Monday.

Speaking to Express News about the status of the investigation, Joint Investigation Team chief Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera said that additional arrests will be made after the completion of the inquiry. He said that evidence has been collected during the inquiry and strict action will be taken against those involved.

Sukhera also said that 33 people including five policemen have been arrested in this connection so far while Sialkot DPO Waqar Ahmed Chouhan is under house arrest. He was detained by the Sialkot police on charges of negligence and for failing to stop the lynching of the teenage brothers on August 15.

However, residents of Buttar village where the incident took place contradict Sukhera’s claims and insist the police have apprehended 125 people of their village. These people, say the villagers, are not being allowed to meet anyone.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has assured that the investigation committee formed by Punjab government will present its report within a day or two and the same will be released to the media. He also said 98 per cent of those involved have so far been apprehended after having been identified in the video footage and will be given exemplary punishment.

He also promised strict action against those involved in the heinous murder and assured the families of justice.

You quoted " I am “Butt” by cast " Sir we are humans and In Islam there is no place for a caste system. This system of belonging to different caste has been inherited from India where due to this the people suffer discrimination. Dear brother I in no way mean to offend you or sound bitter, all i want to achieve is a mentality where we classify ourselves as humans and act like ones. May Allah reward you and may Allah protect us from the fitnah of Dajaal.
Dr. Sabahat | 14 years ago | Reply No doubt, very tragic incident. Our politicians have made our country a police state. There is no accountability for police deeds. One question always ponders me that why our highest officials don't notice the living standard of police officers. Police officers who are government servants and have limited resources of income, how they manage to build states and pass very high quality life styles. Societies are not build by show offs but by deep concern about welfare. I am a doctor and worked for 15 years in Punjab government and now after resigning from Punjab Government have joined an institute owned by Pakistan Army. I am a person who can very well compare punjab government and Pakistan Army very well. Corruption exists in every society and organization. But I assure you Pakistan Army is one hundred times better than our politicians and civil beauracracy. If such incident would have happened in Army's regime, the culprits must had got an exemplary punishment. I am "Butt" by cast and my own son's name is Muneeb. You can very well imagine that how much pain I must have felt for those innocent souls. Mughees and Muneeb, I have just seen your pictures and the torture beasts did upon you. I love you and assure your innocent souls that Allah would do justice for you. My deepest concerns and griefs are for you. I also have a sympathy for the family who lost Bilal and Zeeshan. It is my request to their family that everything would remain in this world. So speak only the truth. Overall, this incident has further given a painful stimulus to sensitive people for leaving this country. May Allah shower his blessings on our country. Ameen
