PML-N wary of electoral drubbing: Kaira

Urges Nisar to avoid derogatory language about other politicians.

ISLAMABAD:

The spat between the information minister and the main opposition leader widened as both continued to trade barbs on the question of how the next elections will be conducted.

“Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar knows that PML- N  will get a drubbing in the coming local government and general elections”, so he has started blaming the government for  plotting to rig elections, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira on Thursday.

“PML-N was afraid of being judged by the masses and so it has started creating excuses to defend its defeat in elections,” he said.

Chaudhry Nisar’s outcry regarding rigged elections followed his claim that President Zardari was administering funds to some journalists for funding Pakistan Peoples Party’s electioneering.

Talking to media persons after attending a seminar on the importance of the Constitution, Kaira said that Chaudhry Nisar’s allegations were baseless. “The coming elections will not and cannot be rigged as for the first time a neutral chief election commissioner has been appointed by consensus,” he said, adding that Chaudhry Nisar was a senior politician and deserves respect, but he should not use derogatory language about others.
