Corruption: Policeman, union council secy arrested

ACE on Wednesday arrested a police constable and a union council secretary on charge of corruption.

FAISALABAD: The Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Wednesday arrested a police constable and a union council secretary on charge of corruption. Civil Lines police said that Circle Officer Faisal Aziz and Judicial Magistrate Zulfiqar Lak had arrested Constable Mubashar Riaz of Gattwala police post while receiving a Rs5,000 bribe from a citizen. Elsewhere, a union council secretary, Muhammad Nawaz, was arrested for accepting Rs15,000 bribe from a woman. Anti Corruption Establishment officials also registered a corruption case against Zahid Ali, driver at the Faisalabad Cardiology Hospital, for taking Rs35,000 from one Mian Azhar Mehmood and promising him a job at the hospital. A case each was registered against SHO Imran of the Garh police station and Assistant Sub Inspector Muhammad Aleem of Tandlianwala Saddar for accepting bribes.
