Raja Qureshi, a senior lawyer who practiced on the criminal side, passed away on Monday night. He was 61.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter who is also a lawyer, and two sons. The family is waiting for his sons to arrive; one of them was expected Tuesday tonight and another by Wednesday, Beenish Qureshi told The Express Tribune.
The namaz-e-janaza will be offered at Bait-us Salam mosque, DHA, Phase IV on Thursday after Zohr prayers.
Raja Qureshi was a prominent lawyer who served as the Advocate General of Sindh. He was appointed the Special Public Prosecutor in a number of high-profile cases, including the Daniel Pearl murder case. Qureshi represented President Asif Ali Zardari in a number of corruption cases, Beenish said. The list of his clients includes Hussain Lawai of Muslim Commercial Bank, Usman Farooqui, who is a former chairman of the Pakistan Steel Mills, and former commissioner of Karachi Zia-ul Islam.
