LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday suspended the notification appointing Zia Latif as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco). Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan also sought replies from the respondents on a petition filed by the former Lesco CEO, Sharafat Ali Sial. Petitioner’s counsel Khwaja Haris Ahmad submitted that the notification issued by the Ministry of Water and Power on September 4 had been against the rules. Only the company’s board of governors could appoint a CEO, not the ministry, he said.
