Alexander honoured: Project to undertake Greek heritage

JHELUM: Cultural Heritage and Afforestation Preservation Society (CHAAPS) took a cultural caravan accompanied by the Greek, British and European Union envoys to the historical site of Jalalpur Sharif to unveil the Alexander Monument and Research Centre (AMRC). The project will undertake a study on 150 years of Greek rule over the territory that is now known as Pakistan and highlight the Greek influence over the Pakistani culture, said CHAAPS chairman Arshad Sadiq. The entourage had an opportunity to witness the battlefield where the invading army of Alexander and the local Raja Porus, fought for the supremacy over the Indus territory in 326 BCE.
