Defence Day: Sialkot honours fallen soldiers

SIALKOT: Defence Day was celebrated with solemnity and enthusiasm here in the district on Thursday. The day started with special prayers in mosques for the unity and prosperity of Pakistan and the swift resolution of the Kashmir issue. Special Quran recitations were held at various places for those who died fighting for their country. Sialkot Station Commander Muhammad Saleem and District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal together raised the national flag in a ceremony organised by the Sialkot Tehsil Municipal Administration. Meanwhile, several educational, cultural and literary bodies held colourful ceremonies. The people of Sialkot were awarded the Hilal-i-Istiqlal flag for their courage during the 1965 war.
