GHALLANAI:

The political administration of Mohmand Agency arrested a cleric on Monday for preaching people not to vaccinate their children against polio.

An official of the political administration told The Express Tribune that cleric Sakhi Jan, a resident of Ghazi Kor, was arrested in Haleemzai tehsil. The official said that the arrest was made after polio teams filed complaints against the cleric. An official of the polio programme, requesting anonymity, said that 14 refusal cases had so far surfaced in the vulnerable area on the first day of the anti-polio drive. He added that 80,000 children will be immunised in the current drive.

On what grounds did he preach against it? Religious reasons or Dr. Shakil Afridi?
