Health: EDOs told to ensure targets are met

Participants were told to ensure measures necessary were taken regularly to achieve child immunisation targets.

A meeting to review the performance of executive district officers (EDOs) was held on Monday.


The meeting was convened by Health DG Dr Nisar Ahmad Cheema at the Directorate General Health Services committee room. Dr Tanveer Hamid, the extended programme immunization manager; Dr Amjad Shahzad, the health sector reforms manager, Dr Mubashar Malik the communicable disease control manager and Dr Jafar Ilyas, the dengue control programme manager presented a provisional analyse on the achievement of targets.

The participants were told to ensure the measures necessary were taken regularly to achieve child immunisation targets. The meeting decided that funds allocated for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will be used to procure medicines and medical equipment to provide safe deliveries in far flung areas. The health DG assured his support to all EDOs. The EDOs were told to evaluate EPI coverage in two union councils selected at random from every tehsil. They have also were told to assure active dengue larvae surveillance and respond promptly.
