According to Express News, an MQM delegation met Zardari in Karachi to discuss the future of the present MQM-PPP coalition.
President Zardari said that certain elements are creating unrest to harm the PPP-led alliance.
He also added that the coalition partners will work together to ensure peace in Sindh, reported APP.
Recently, the president also directed the PPP core committee to ensure that local body polls are held before the parliamentary elections, in a bid to end the deadlock with the key coalition partner.
Sources said that President Zardari had asked the committee to focus on the legal aspects of local bodies rather than politicising the issue and creating a possible confrontation with the government’s coalition partners.

Both are responsible for present miserable condition of Pakistan. Both are looting the country. Allah save Pakistan from PPP and MQM. Both are criminals. Both are playing with lives of people in Karachi.
So you can never have peace in Karachi.
CARROT given ... MQM muz keep eyes open for STICK ... i.e. zulfiqar mirza kind ... why wil a sindhi land lord be good to a party who is built on middle-class ? asnwer is : he wil not ... thats juz to malign the middle class who is supporting the MQM
There is only one way to defeat government alliance and that is, if PML(N), PTI, JI and other political opponents sit together and plan a combined strategy. Going alone is working in favour of PPP, which has adopted different strategy for each constituency. For example in the constituency where I live, few month back we were 80% sure that our PML(N) candidate will beat sitting PPP MNA in future elections. Sensing their defeat, PPP has started projecting PML(Q) candidate with a very hypocratic slogan, which is , " Musharaf daur (government) was better than this government" and by these words in Punjab they mean Pervez Elahi government. PPP Jiyalas are shouting these words more than PML(Q) itself. In my view, Mr. Zardari has already planned strategy in each consituency and government is focusing on poor classes only, who do not care about anything other than food, some clothes and place to sleep.
hahaha , anybody who wants to see pogo yet ? i think its an eyeopener for all the status co ..
you cannot trust mqm ,as soon as pti or pmln win the elcetion they will break this allliance and join the winning party.mqm would not change its startegy.Their motive stay in every cabinet stay in every government ",in the name of great interest "?.
Marriage of convenience between 2 opportunists.
is this the middle class of MQM want a party which has ruin Pakistan and there leader joining hands with the the most corrupt people of PPP. Shame on leaders of PPP and MQM
tsunami cant be dettered by these flopped alliences.Get ready for this wave that wil wash the status quo even pmln also joins this allience.
@ casim, PPP with MQM, PML(Q), ANP and other regional parties will make a formidable alliance. To make it more dreadful, Imran will be asked to call off his boycott.
Im a Karachi resident and I always thought MQM could be a change for good but they have done zero in last 5 years. I never thought I would say this but if they continue this unholy alliance, they will lose my vote.
MQM should not fear PPP and if they only increase their ambitions and try to be a metropolitan party rather than just Karachi party all of Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore, Islamabad and Faisalabad etc. will vote for them.
But for now they have very poor performance.
Are we moving towards another "era" of PPP??????. Thanks to PTI for supporting PPP through opposition of PMLN.
Please do something for the Police and Judicial reforms...
@casim: politics is not black and white. Chances of PPP returning are high if they keep intact the coalition.
@Ch. Allah Daad: there is still some time left, you'll see MQM running in search of new alliance soon after the elections are done :) by the way its pathetic to form strategies to secure power but what about strategies for the welfare of Pakistanis :)
MQM has a habit to leave the alliances near elections. Good strategy by President to keep them in alliance and not providing them an opportunity to run away.
both parties will lose just as equally, INSHALLAH!
Time to pack up and leave Pakistan ...
@MAD: PPP is going to loose much more than lyari here..... this alliance is subject to PPP gaining hefty number of seats in next elections ;-)
And with that sentence the PPP may just have lost Lyari forever.
Both the parties are equally responsible for the bad governance we witness in this country
Expect more killing and bhatta-khori in Karachi :-(
