Busy sunday: Police arrest 12 suspects in separate raids

Anti-Extremist Cell of the CID claimed that six men have been arrested during two separate raids.

KARACHI: About one dozen suspects allegedly involved in different crimes were arrested in Karachi during separate raids on Sunday.

The Anti-Extremist Cell of the Crime Investigation Department claimed that six men have been arrested during two separate raids. Two men, Sajid alias Danger and Arif Rizvi, were caught during a raid in Landhi. The AEC chief, SSP Chaudhry Aslam Khan, said that the suspects belonged to a political party and were involved in more than 50 cases of target killings.

In another raid the police arrested four men. Two hand grenades, two Kalashnikovs and six pistols were found in their possession. The Sir Syed police arrested two men who were allegedly involved in extortion.  The Azizabad police arrested four suspects after an encounter. A police constable, Zafar Siddiqui, was injured in crossfire.
