Explosion: Engine of car bomb found

Engine was found by locals who then handed it over to police, says Crime Investigation Officer Riaz Khan

Police have found the engine of the car used in a blast 200 meters from the site of the explosion.


On Friday, a car bomb exploded near the a market outside Sheri mosque in Mattani, killing 11 people.

Crime Investigation Officer Riaz Khan told The Express Tribune that the engine was found by locals who then handed it over to police. “It is an important breakthrough in our case and will help us identify the owner of the vehicle,” explained Khan.

Another Mattani police official said that in many cases vehicles used in explosions are either stolen or not bought illegally. He also said that it was clear that the bomb attack was targeting Tehsildar Hashim Gul.
