Tragedy: Six killed in separate incidents

At least six people were killed in different incidents in Mansehra District.

At least six people were killed in different incidents in Mansehra District on Sunday, police said.


In the first incident, four members of a family were shot dead in Gali Doga village of Darband.

The local police quoted Wali Muhammad as saying that he was away from home when some persons entered his house and shot dead his father, wife, son and nephew. He said he had no enmity with anyone.

Station House Officer Mukhtiar Khan said that though it was early to reach any conclusion, but the circumstances suggested that it was a robbery attempt, which the inmates resisted.

The police had not registered an FIR till the filing of this report.

Meanwhile, the bodies were shifted to central Darband for autopsy.

In the second incident, a teenage girl committed suicide over a marriage dispute. According to family sources, Umara, 17, was in love with a relative but despite being approached by his family repeatedly, her parents were adamant on marrying her off to another man of a neighbouring village.

After failing to convince her parents to let her marry of her own choice, she consumed insecticide and died of intoxication.

In the third incident, a man was killed after being hit in the head with a stone in Battal village.

Police said that a jirga was in progress to settle a dispute when Miandad and Jehanzeb entered into an altercation and the former attacked the latter with a heavy stone and it accidentally hit Walidad in the head, killing him on the spot.

The police registered a case against the accused.
