Counter-terrorism: UK gives counter-IED gear to K-P

The counter-IED equipment consists of robotic bomb disposal squads.

LAHORE: In order to enhance counter-terrorism cooperation, the UK has handed over four sets of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) disposal equipment to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Police.

The UK also offered an IED disposal course to 20 members of the K-P Police at the Counter IED (CIED) Centre for Excellence in Risalpur, according to official documents obtained by The Express Tribune.

The counter-IED equipment consists of robotic bomb disposal squads. In this regard, a meeting of the Pakistan-UK joint working group on counter terrorism and criminal justice improvement will be held on September 3, 2012 at the interior ministry in Islamabad.
