ISLAMABAD:

Two policemen were injured in an attack on a police patrol in the outskirts of the city on Thursday night.

A Nilore police official said that a police patrol signalled a Suzuki Alto to stop on Golra Road near Chirah. The car did not slow down.

The suspects inside the car started firing at the police patrol as it moved to intercept them.

A sub inspector leading the police team and the driver of the police van were hit.

Police said the assailants got away, while the police officials failed to note down the registration number of the Alto.

The two injured officials were admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, where their condition is stated to be stable.

There were three men in the Alto, police said.
