919 Pakistani Hindus eligible for Indian citizenship: Report
The administration has asked such migrants to submit relevant documents and other details for this purpose.
The DC report quoted additional magistrate of Jodhpur Rajendra Singh Rathore as saying: “As per our record, these 919 Pakistani Hindu nationals have completed seven years of their stay in India, the basic eligibility to apply for citizenship.
“We have asked them to follow the procedure and if they fulfil all conditions, including fees, they will be granted citizenship,” Rathore added.
The step comes weeks after many Hindus from Balochistan and Sindh have reportedly migrated to India due to lack of security and persecution of their community.

Democratic Party in US created a system such as that for Blacks in the sixties, seventies and eighties. Result: at least one generation prided itself on not ever having worked a day in their life. Haj subsidies are continuing (even though Supreme Court has asked to put an end to it within ten years), demands for quotas and reservations are all the rage!

Disagree my friend. Ahmadis were amongst the people who sought a different coutnry because they did not want to live with Hindus. Well, they have their country - let them sort their mess out.
Muslims who stayed back in India in 1947 are true Indians no different from you and I and deserve every right that any Indian should get but those Muslims who asked for and got a separate country - they need to pay the price of their own actions. I feel sympathy for them but feel no ownership to help resolve their situation.

In the aftermath of Partition of 1947 when the first wave began of penniless Sindhi Hindu migrants to Gujarat (India) many philanthropic locals made a practice of donating food, clothing and other items to the indigent refugees. Within a week the elders among the Sindhis humbly requested the donors not to give food but to give a one-time loan of either some small amount to start a petty trade or some merchandise on credit to hawk. Their self-respect prevented them from becoming beggars & they did not want the youngsters to become lazy bones. In few years Sindhi became synonymous with success in every walk of life in India! Even today Revdi Bazar in Ahmedabad stands as witness to their early endeavours at petty trade. And symbol of their immense pride despite hardships exists in the very name they gave to their refugee colony-Kuber Nagar-named after mythological treasurer of the heavens. By all means India must collect the fees & protect their honour. Donors can always lend them money. They will return it. Let none say they came as beggars.
This is a win win situation for everyone!
Pakistanis are happy to get rid of them, Indians are happy to receive their people who unfortunately got stuck there after partition.
Should India allow Muslims also to migrate? No. Why? Because India is taking Hindus because they are persecuted in Pakistan, politically and institutionally. Are Muslims persecuted in Pakistan or Bangladesh?
By that criteria Sikhs and Christians are also allowed to migrate.

This is nothing new to India. Throughout its history India has received people escaping relgious persecution be it Zorastrians or the Jews. The tolerence and capacity of Mother India is infinite...(so it seems)
