Cricket: Unmukt may lose a year in college
Captain of the India U19 side that won the World Cup is set to lose a year in college because of poor attendance.
Unmukt Chand, captain of the India U19 side that won the World Cup, is set to lose a year in college because of poor attendance, according to The New India Express. Unmukt, who studies in Delhi University, failed to have the required 33.3 per cent attendance in college because of his cricketing engagements. The 19-year-old is hoping a resolution can be found to the situation. “I spoke to my sports teacher and the principal and they are willing to help me out in the next semester,” said Unmukt. Former Indian cricketer Kirti Azad said it was unfair to punish a player who was representing the country. “Unmukt has won the World Cup,” said Azad. “He is a good young man and has secured good marks. Penalising him is really unfair.”
