Dengue virus: Factories directed to remove water puddles

Joharabad administration on Tuesday warned factories to clear water puddles and remove obsolete containers from their premises to prevent breeding of dengue mosquito.


The administration officials also destroyed  some containers lying in the open and collected mosquito larvae samples during an inspection of factories on Sakesar Road and Joharabad-Sargodha Road.

The units raided on Tuesdya were Ali Jute Mills, Khalil Jute Mills, Haq Farm Juice Factory on Sakesar Road and Hameeda Spinning Mills on Joharabad-Sargodha Road.

The raiding team consisted of District Officer (Environment) Misbahul Haq Lodhi, District Officer (Labour) Alamgir Khan, District Officer (Enterprises and Investment Promotion), District Officer (Social Welfare) Jaffer Hussain Bhutta and Deputy District Officre (Health) Dr Sarfaraz Sial.

Another raiding team shredded 105 old tyres confiscated from tyre shops in Joharabad and Khushab.

Tehsil Municipal Officer Sheikh Muhammad Ashfaq told the media that sanitary workers had been sent to clean all sewers in Waqar Aslam Colony.

He said sewers in the rest of the tehsil would be cleaned in the next phase.

The two raiding teams were formed and the tasks assigned to them on Monday morning by Khushab Assistant Commissioner Abdullah Khurram Niazi at a meeting to review measures against prevention of dengue fever.

The Bhakkar district coordination officer on Tuesday directed officials to form district and tehsil level committees to carry out inspections for dengue mosquito larvae. The district committee will be headed by the DCO and executive district officers of departments concerned would be its members.

The DCO said he had received complaints about poor sanitation arrangements in Masoomabad and Haiderabad areas and directed Bhakkar tehsil municipal officer to address these problems.

Other TMOs were told to ensure that guidelines issued by Health Department on cleanliness were followed. The DCO directed them to remove all water puddles and to properly cover all manholes in their areas.

The DCO was earlier briefed about the dengue survey campaign that ended on August 26.

A special anti-dengue squad on Tuesday collected mosquito larvae samples from 46 sites it visited in Sargodha.
