The names, which have not been disclosed by the party as yet, include senior politicians, retired judges and senior lawyers.
Surprisingly, none of the candidates are from Punjab, say sources, and no bureaucrats or military personnel have been named in the list either. No bureaucrat or military personnel named in list.
PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif will consult with other political parties before sending these names to the government for electing the caretaker prime minister.

Only 8 candidates ?
PML-N ALL THE WAY!!!!
I recommend PTI should also nominate a candidate for the caretaker PM. How about Rashid 'Tulli' Sheikh.
Asma Jehan Gir should remain the top priority
@Ex-PMLN Voter: we dont need you. we have have plenty of those who went the wrong way but allah gave them wisdom and back with pml n. so you please be there
@Ex-PMLN Voter Congratulation, your vote for PTI will be another vote for feduals of PPP. @Logic Euroe, I am nost sure what you are smoking but PML N a small party ?? Do you even know what is the defination of small ?
This shows both PPP and PML-N are working together back door making people fool by giving statements against eachother. I pray people come out of this party-circle and be loyal to Pakistan not to the parties. PML-N has no vision for the crisises that PML-N has put us in. On the other hand, PPP has a visison of destroying the nation, creating confusion every where, disputing the pillars of nation, and just believe on looting.
Senior lawyers and retired judges? Who? Akram Sheikh? Saeed uz zamman siddiqi (briefcase fame and political candidate of PML-N. Most of the ills of today are due to the judges who are currently living a retired life.
@ Abdulla. Well may be not today bu Soon
Sometimes I feel our media is also dividing us. They should chose 8 capable person and they can be found outside Punjab.
well done PMLN...
Why headline is saying "announces candidates". It should be proposes or selects, or finalizes, candidates names.
Asma Jahangir should never be included in these names. She does not have ability to run the country but only slamming the Pak army and judiciary. I hope PML-N will keep this thing in mind. I hope there will be no politician in the proposed names as political parties can not single out even one politician with clean background. Shame, shame.....
My candidate Veena Malik ++++++++++++++++++++ She has diplomatic skills
@Abdullah: biggest party in the most important province of Pakistan
What makes you believe that it is the most important province of Pakistan? I tried to sift through the constitution but found nothing of that sort.
@khamosh1: So rightly said
Here's hoping it is ASMA JAHANGIR.
For me best candidate is Mehmood khan Achakzai
Why are all the candidates outside Punjab??? Why does PML N always sell short Punjab and Punjabis???
Aren't Punjabis part of Pakistan????
@Logic Europe: Small Party, they are the second largest party in the assembly and the biggest party in the most important province of Pakistan
Respected Sir, It will be a good step and i hope its a fair election second step . and we also hope all parties finalise care taker government as they final name of election commissioner. its better for Pakistan future and continuing democracy in pakistan .May Allah bless our country and nation .
Rgards
Tahir Siddiqui Wah cantt
@Ex-PMLN Voter: What is shameful ?
More persecution of punjabis.First, the federal govt. cut off electricity and gas supplies of punjab for the last four years, then the govt. and its allies gathered together to divide up punjab and now out of EIGHT names, not a single name of a person from punjab. This persecution of Punjabis must end.
PML n is a small party and as such only do much wait should be given to their recommendation . The ruling coalition should have a much bigger say I hope Maulana fazal ul rehman is the next care taker PM
Why only 8?
.... Shame on PMLN , I will vote for imran Khan Tehreek-e-Insaaf :)
Who wrote the headline? The report doesn't mention any names, hence there is no announcement.
None of the candidates are from Punjab. You mean they are all from outside the party. ;)
@ET: The caption should not be "Announced" instead it should be "Finalized" as PML N has not disclosed the Names.
