Pakistan Post: KEMU commemorative stamp issued

Pakistan Post has issued 0.5 million of them and they will go on sale from August 28.

For the 150th anniversary of the King Edward Medical University the Pakistan Post has issued a commemorative stamp. It is 60mm by 30.5mm and costs eight rupees. The Pakistan Post has issued 0.5 million of them and they will go on sale from August 28. It was designed by Adil Salahuddin (Sitara-i-Imtiaz). In 1857, the idea of a medical school for the Punjab was placed before the imperial government. In 1860, Dr JB Scriven became the first principal of the Lahore Medical School. It started functioning in the artillery barracks at the present site of the Government College.
