BAHAWALPUR:

Three men suspected of kidnapping a man near Rahim Yar Khan and cutting his lips and nose were arrested by police on Thursday.

Three other suspects, including the main accused, have yet to be arrested.

Muhammad Ahmad told The Express Tribune that he had lent Rs700,000 to Ranjhay Khan some time ago. He said he was returning from Karachi to Gillani village on Sunday to celebrate Eid when Khan and some other men kidnapped him at gunpoint near Qadirpur village.

He said he was taken to an unfamiliar location where he was tied up and Khan cut off his lips and nose with a knife. He said he was abandoned. A relative saw him and took him to the Zahir Peer tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital.

Zahirpeer SHO Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf said three men, Miraj, Dilshad and Muhammad Baksh had been arrested.

He said police were still looking for the other three suspects, including Ranjhay Khan. He said the men had admitted to assisting the kidnapping.

Dr Muhammad Akram Khan at the Zahir Peer THQ hospital said Ahmad had been moved to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) on Wednesday.

BVH Media Coordinator Dr Aziz Ahmed said Ahmad will be discharged within a day or two.

People like these discourage others from helping out friends and acquaintances. These criminals should be sent to jail for a long time.
