PESHAWAR: As new polio cases surface, the district government has decided to launch a special ‘short interval additional dose’ campaign. A three-stage drive against the crippling disease will run in 48 high risks Union Councils (UC) and around 456,728 children are expected to be administrated the drops. The first phase will begin from August 28 to 30, the second from September 4 to 6 and the last stage will be from September 10 to 12.  “A special committee was made to remove reservations about the vaccination,” Executive District Officer (Health) Abdur Rashid said. Apart from Peshawar, the health department will also run a campaign to immunise 1.8 million children in Charsadda, Mardan and Lakki Marwat.
