Inflation: Index up 1.29% during week

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended August 23 has registered an increase of 1.29% over the previous week for the lowest income group. The SPI for the week under review for the above mentioned group was recorded at 182.36 points against 180.03 points registered in the previous week, according provisional figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The SPI for combined groups was up by 1.16%; up from 186.32 points in the previous week to 188.49 points this week. Compared to the corresponding week last year, the SPI for combined groups inflated 8.55%. During the week under review, average prices of indexed items changed as follows: five items registered a decrease, 22 items increased and the remaining 26 items’ prices remained unchanged.
