Govt to create inter-faith council for religious harmony: Rehman Malik
He said the council will comprise of scholars from all religious sects and its chairmanship will be rotated among them every three months.
Malik said that an inter-faith conference will be held on August 30 on a national level for discussing how sectarian harmony can be promoted in the country.
He appealed to people of the country to unite and foil nefarious designs of the enemies who want to create instability in the country through subversive incidents.
Answering a question on the law and order situation in Balochistan, Malik offered Baloch nationalist leaders dialogue with the government for addressing issues of the Baloch people.
He also asked self-exiled Baloch nationalist leaders to return to Balochistan and help their people resolve their issues while remaining among them.
Malik said they can make Pakistan especially Balochistan the most prosperous area of the world with unity, peace and stability.

Already a full time Inter-Faith Federal Ministry with a full time Minister survives on the money of the poor country. Mr. Malik is trying to say, "They are good for nothing, therefore we need an Inter-Faith Council." Dear readers you read him wrong.
I can predict with absolute certainty that this council will succeed, and there will be harmony among all faiths... except for Salafis against non-Salafis.
When Maliks involved you know it's going to have lots of rhetoric and nothing of substance is going to happen.
The success of this effort will turn on whom the Interior Minister will accept as “religions” of Pakistan. We know that Pakistan as a State recognizes only Sunnis as Muslims and not followers of any other sect. Let's start with removing all the anti-Ahmadiyya Ordinances and the Blasphemy Law. After that we will believe that the Government is serious.
Another council, some more opportunity for the connected to get bullet-proof Toyotas, salaries and body guards!! What nonsense - if he were serious he would have arrested the killers of Shias, those threatening Ahmadis and converting Hindu girls. He would have changed the school textbooks that preach hate against minorities and he would have abolished Blasphemy laws.
You don't need a council. You need to jail the actual culprits for once. That's sort of what a jail is for. They're rooms reserved for those who cause danger, fear and instability. It wouldn't hurt to get rid of religion-biased laws. With those in place it's almost impossible for other religious groups to take claims of being equal and respected seriously. After all, there have been plenty of nice "words" for other religious groups. It's the actions that hurt.
I think he should have an INTRAFAITH council for muslims. Once it is successful, he can think of INTERFAITH.
