Busted: Patwari sacked for taking bribe

LAHORE: A patwari has been dismissed after he was caught taking a bribe in order to do his job. Officials of the Anti-Corruption Establishment had caught Amir Hussain taking Rs50,000 from Syed Muhammad Ali for the issuance of a No Objection Certificate for a property transaction in Gulberg. Ali had complained to ACE that Hussain had demanded Rs0.6m for the NOC. The ACE officials had then set up a sting operation to catch the patwari red handed. The LDA held a departmental inquiry which found the patwari guilty, according to a press release issued by the LDA on Thursday. Administration Director Khalid Pervaiz dismissed Hussain from service under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act of 2006.
