In a bid to compete with the likes of Nokia and Samsung in the low-end smarthone market, QMobile has launched Andriod-powered Noir A2 smartphone on Tuesday.
“The launch of Noir series shows our seriousness about entering the smartphone market,” said QMobile CEO Zeeshan Akhter.
QMobile devices are manufactured in China and rebranded in Pakistan, an expert confirmed. The company has made a buzz in the market with its huge advertisement campaigns with brand ambassadors including Atif Aslam and Iman Ali and competitively priced phones.
“With the relaunch of A2 with upgraded features, we are reiterating our commitment to providing consumers with the latest mobile technologies at the most affordable prices,” said Akhter.
The phone priced between Rs8,600 and Rs10,900 is in the same range as Nokia’s Asha Series. QMobile is the second largest brand in terms of market share in the Pakistani mobile phone market, he said.
The upgraded Noir A2 is equipped with a 1 GHz processor – the same as an Apple Iphone 4 – instead of the previous 650 Mhz processor.
The 3.5-inch capacitive touch screen also has a dual SIM featured and is powered by the operating on Android OS 2.3 (Ginger Bread). The device has a 3.2 megapixel camera and a front-facing VGA camera for video conference using Skype. This is one of the cheapest smartphones that lets you video chat, Akhter said.
