The government is committed to protect the rights of all minorities and the elements disturbing Hindus anywhere in the province will be dealt with severely, said Maula Bux Chandio, the federal political affairs minister, on Tuesday.
He is heading the presidential committee on the Hindu migration issue and met the community representatives during his visit to Sindh to listen to their grievances.
Speaking at the Bilawal House media cell, he said that the government will take action against those blowing the issue of Hindu migration out of proportion,.Chandio was confident that the committee will set a precedent to ensure the rights of Hindus. “We’ll present the issues of minorities before President Asif Ali Zardari. The government can make changes in the constitution if required,” he said.
Besides other recommendations, the government will also look into allocating five per cent share of minorities in jobs, Chandio asserted.
Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, the MNA of the constituency where the migration issue surfaced, claimed that more than 80 per cent Hindus had voted for him in the election. Not a single Hindu family from his district or any other part of the province had migrated to India but the issue was being exaggerated. “We are with you [Hindus] and promise to address your concerns,” added Jakhrani.

Maulaji where were you when Rinkle was being converted?
Why 5% job quota for minorities as they only account for 3 % of total Pakistan's population? It is injustice to majority of population whom u r talking about that they are depriving Minorities..Furthermore, don't make this issue political as in case of Pakistan every body(whether Majority or minority) both are insecure. All just because of our Hypocrate, inefficient, corrupted leaders..
@a_writer: Every Hindu leaving Pakistan carries with him tons of tales of raped conversion of minor girls that has blessings from the judiciary and also encouraged by almost the entire Pakistan society.
You say: "Thousands of Pakistanis have left Pakistan for the US, Canada and UK over the years; that never made any news in Pakistan."
Pakistanis in UK have made major news across the globe for carrying their pedophilia culture even to their adopted land. This has been exposed with the sentencing of the Pakistani group recently. Only difference is that, in Pakistan it is glorified and encouraged as a religious requirement. In UK also there was a connection with a Mosque and an Islamic religious scholar. Muslims from no other islamic countries, even Afghanistan and Bangladesh have this unique distinction as Pakistan.
Chandio sb. where were you and your government? when one of the MNA (Mian Mithoo) forcefully converted the Hindu girl!! and such other incident which i know you are well awre off..... one recent incident is being widely reported by media of recenr conversion of Ms. Manisha Kumari!! For Gods sake and one request please stop using political promises and giving the false hopes and rather facilitate those who want to migrate and live hassle free life!!!
@Umer: Isn't PPP your liberal secular government? Why are you complaining. or you are indian disguised as Pakistani
So they are going to take action against media who brings up the hindus plight....way to go and nicely done.
Lip service.
Why does Pakistani govt. and its people feel so insecure about every minor tremors that may remotely affect their country's image? If it is indeed true that Hindu families want to emigrate to India, what exactly is the big deal? The mature response from Pakistan would be to wish them well in their future life and express a sincere disappointment that things didn't work out for them in their country of birth. If any Muslim from India wants to emigrate to Pakistan or any other country, I hope the Indian Govt. wouldn't throw a temper tantrum 'a la Rehman Malik' and would facilitate their safe and comfortable passage. Thousands of Pakistanis have left Pakistan for the US, Canada and UK over the years; that never made any news in Pakistan. It seems like the biggest rub in this whole episode is that the Pakistani citizens might have opted to move to India resulting in the the heart burn 'how could they ! ' choose a country that is perceived as Pakistan's mortal enemy!
Sir, begin by addressing the issue of the forced conversions of Hindu girls some are as young as twelve years old.
