Independence Day: Flag-hoisting ceremony marks the day

A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Commissioner’s Complex to observe Independence Day on Tuesday. The ceremony that started at 9am included performances by the girl guides, boy scouts and the officials of the Police, Prisons and Rescue 1122 departments.

MPA Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan said the younger generation should be taught about the history of the country. He paid rich tributes to the founding fathers. Earlier, MPAs Juel Aamir Sahutra and Khalil Tahir Sindhu talked about the Christian community’s participation in the Pakistan Movement. He said Christians under the leadership of Joshua Fazal Din and SP Singha had fought side by side with Muslims against Master Tara Singh on August 23 in East Punjab.
