Bachelors’ exam results: With a whopping 20 top positions, girls outshine boys at Hazara University

All of the toppers are from the government degree colleges.

With an overwhelming success ratio, female candidates completely outshined boys to bag the top 20 positions in the annual graduate-level examinations at Hazara University (HU).


The results were announced by the university on Tuesday.

A total of 27,574 candidates appeared in the exams for Science and Arts disciplines and out of these, 15,177 emerged successful. According to the university’s Controller Exams Prof Zor Akhtar the overall pass percentage was 55%.

While elaborating on the results, the controller exams stated that Mariyam Malik of Government Girls Degree College No 1 Abbottabad stood first in the Science group scoring 484 marks. Tehmina Shaukat of Government Girls College Havelian bagged the second position by obtaining 470 marks, whereas Sabira Bibi of Government Girls College Mandiyan Abottabad and Saba Hameed of Government Girls College Haripur shared the third position by scoring 463 marks each.

In the Arts group, girls again bagged all three top positions with Neelam Shehzadi of Government Girls Degree College No 1 Mansehra securing the first position with 410 marks. Naila Shoaib of Government Girls Degree College Abbottabad got the second position by scoring 406 marks and Faiza Sultan of Government Girls Degree College Mansehra along with Aliya Noreen of Government Girls Degree College Khalabat Township shared the third position with 405 marks each.

The boys on the other hand failed to secure any top positions.

The results also show that all the top positions went to the students of government colleges this time round. Among the top 20 positions, the Government Girls Degree College Abbottabad No 1 obtained eight top positions, while Government Girls Degree College Haripur and Havelian bagged five positions each. The Government Girls Degree College Mandiyan bagged two positions and Government Girls Degree College No 1 Mansehra and Government Girls Degree College No 2 Mansehra took one each.

According to Akhtar, the detailed mass certificates (DMCs) have been uploaded on the university’s website while hard copies of all the district headquarters have been deposited at a focal point from where the candidates can get them.

Moreover, HU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Syed Sakhawat Shah congratulated the female students for their outstanding performance and urged the boys to garner inspiration and strive for excellence in future.

well girls have lifted boys far behind in studies.

At least I know there are 20 people in Pakistan that probably agree with me that we should continue and increase drone strikes to eliminate the Taliban and sharia law including the desire to outlaw educating women.
