Protestors blocked the Indus Highway on Sunday after a paramilitary personnel was allegedly gunned down by police during a raid on his house in the Wanda Mash area of the district.
Locals took the body of Frontier Corps (FC) personnel Riayat Khan to the protest. They blocked the Indus Highway, protesting against the officials of Dadi Wala police station.
Demonstrators were chanting slogans against SHO Amir Khan, who raided the house and allegedly killed the FC personnel. Elders of the area said that Khan had returned home on a vacation and was preparing to go back to duty. They alleged that the SHO, along with a police team, raided his house and killed him. However, it was not ascertained why the police team raided the house in the first instance.
Later, DPO Umar Riaz and DCO Sanaullah Khan visited the protest site to negotiate with the protestors.
They re-opened the Indus Highway around 9pm, after the DPO assured them that the SHO would be transferred from the police station by morning. He assured the elders that an inquiry would be held into the incident and justice will be served in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile Ajab Khan, uncle of the deceased FC personnel filed a report against the SHO and the police team.
