The Anti-Terrorism Court-III issued non-bailable warrants on Saturday for 12 men, including Rashid Bengali and Uzair Baloch, Zafar Baloch and Habib Jan Baloch, for involvement in the violence in Lyari.
The case was filed on the basis of an FIR registered under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code that deal with punishments for rioting with armed weapons, unlawful assembly, using criminal force to prevent public servants from doing their duty, attempted murder, ‘mischief by fire or explosive substance’, causing mischief and common intent, and under section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The FIR was registered at the Baghdadi police station. One of the accused, Sajjad Khatari, has been arrested. The next hearing is scheduled for September 1.
Uzair Baloch, along with six other absconders, was issued another non-bailable warrant in a case filed at the Kalakot police station. One of the accused, Saeed Pathan, has been arrested in the case. The FIR was filed under sections 3 and 4 of the Explosives Act, section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, and sections of the Pakistan Penal Code that deal with punishment for dacoity, attempted murder and causing hurt. The ATC-III will next hear this case on September 3.
Non-bailable warrants have also been issued for Uzair Baloch, the head of the banned Peoples Amn Committee, in several other cases being heard by the ATC-III.
