Cash, land for Indian medallist: Report
India’s latest sporting hero Mary Kom will receive $90,400 for winning a bronze in the Olympic women’s boxing competition, according to a report.
The mother-of-two from Manipur had to settle for bronze after she was beaten by Britain’s Nicola Adams in the 51kg category. The Manipur government decided to honour Kom after a cabinet meeting gave its approval, the Press Trust of India quoted a state spokesman as saying. “Kom has made the name of Manipur known in the sports arena and brought prestige for the whole country,” said the spokesman. Kom would also be promoted to the rank of additional police superintendent and given two acres of land, he said.

Well, in Agra Hindus keep roza with their muslim brothers.....not only agra but also in my state Rajasthan yesterday our honorable chief minister kept a roza with our muslim bros.......can u Imagine celebrating dipawali or holi with the Hindu minorities in Pakistan..??? Righty Rightist - I am not sure whether blindly killing members of a community is the right idea of justice, just because few members of the same community killed some innocent civilians. Note that people killed in Gujrat Riots were mostly innocent citizens. I am sure that the Gujrat rioters had no clue about actual perpetrators of Godhra, instead they killed innocent Muslims to fulfill there vendetta. If that is the case then these guys are equal partners in the crime and should be served with capital punishment
However it would have made more sense to me if the actual criminals were identified and executed. Killing innocent people was not at all acceptable alternative by any means. As we all know that did not happen and hence Gujrat 2002 leaves a dark patch in our history. It's never about numbers, it's always about guilty and not guilty.

And believe me in India Muslims get more respect than your beloved motherland. There is no daily killing or extortion of Muslims by fellow Muslims in the name of jihad, blasphemy or true sect of Islam. There is no special treatment by the state for Shias or Sunnis or Ahmediyas. Instead all of them are Muslims and at the same time Indians as much as any other non Muslim citizens.

@Yash - Offcourse Hindus are less humans but that's fine because they are kafirs, so they are inferior lot anyways to the superior majority. That they are allowed to stay and live is a privilege itself as they are not the children of superior God. However when it comes to a non-Islamic/secular country you should talk in terms of equality and rationality and humanity and what not. Wait for few decades or centuries , when the Muslim minority have a substantial number then no need to bother about those things anymore because then only the followers of superior God should rule, those belonging to inferior religions should either convert or else continue to be treated as kafirs. But remember that is justified.

Just for the record.... Mary Kom is a proud daughter of India from the 'North Eastern state' of Manipur...... When she was interviewed this is what she said - "I apologize to the country that i could not hold up to their expectations. I will change the color of the medal next time...". But we are still very proud of her..... Salute to the mother of two and daughter of India....
