KCCI elections: Businessmen Group gets sixth straight win

KARACHI: All candidates backed by the Businessmen Group (BMG) for the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Managing Committee were elected unopposed for 2012-13.

It is the sixth consecutive year that BMG-backed candidates have won the KCCI elections. The BMG is led by Siraj Kassam Teli, director of Pakistan Beverages Limited.

Since no other candidates filed nomination papers, all 15 BMG-backed candidates were elected unopposed, according to unofficial results. A statement released by BMG Chairman Teli said he was grateful to the business community of Karachi.

Polling to elect KCCI’s office-bearers for 2012-2013 will be held on September 27. The BMG has nominated Haroon Agar for the position of KCCI president.
